This information came to light during an enforcement operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) head office in RAJUK on Wednesday. The agency’s Director General Akhter Hossain gave this information at a press conference at the ACC head office in Segunbagicha in the capital on Thursday.

He said that in a letter sent by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works to the Chairman of RAJUK on February 7, 2024, the names of 15 drivers working in Sheikh Hasina’s office were mentioned and ‘permitted’ to allocate three and five katha plots among them.

ACC sources said that the letter was signed by the then Joint Secretary of the Ministry Md. Mizanur Rahman. It said that in response to the application by 15 drivers working in the Prime Minister’s Office, permission was granted to allocate one 3-katha plot each in favor of two applicants and one 5-katha plot in favor of three applicants in the Jhilmil Residential Project under RAJUK. The listed drivers include drivers of VVIPs and VIPs, various secretaries, protocol officers and drivers of the Prime Minister’s special assistants.

After reviewing the documents related to plot allocation in Purbachal of RAJUK during the ACC’s operation, it was found that 934 plots were allocated there in light of the 2009 policy. However, the initial review showed that Section 13/A of the policy was not followed properly. Initial truth of multiple irregularities in the allocation was found.
